Aims and activities of the organisation

The IUFM of Montpellier( Teacher Training Institute, part of the University of Montpellier 2 “Science and Technology) is responsible for initial teacher training at primary and secondary level. The IUFM offers training courses in all the subjects taught in the French educational system as well as courses of pedagogy. Concerning the “Assessment and Evaluation in CLIL” project, the IUFM organizes initial and in-service teacher training for teachers in CLIL. These teachers willi later teach their subject in a foreign language in “European Sections”(sections européennes). The IUFM considers the CLIL approach as a priority. Our Institute published a special issue on CLIL in its scientific journal in September 2007.

Role of the organisation in the project

The IUFM’s contribution to the project will be as follows: – Producing learning units through the methods of collaborative learning in cooperation with the other partners – Organising short teacher training sessions – Taking part in monitoring and evaluating the process and the end-results of the project. The Language Department of the IUFM, the teacher trainers in charge of the CLIL training courses and 2 secondary schools with “European Sections” (section européennes) will be associated with the project. The IUFM will organize a teacher traning seminar in Montpellier for all partners.
